FAQs
What type of therapy do you offer?
I am trained in a number of therapy modalities but have advanced training and base my practice around Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for both couples and individuals with an aim to help people connect more securely with their partners, themselves, and the world around them.
I am also trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), a modality often used to treat PTSD, depression, and anxiety. I am a Perinatal Mental Health Certified provider and have trained with the Reproductive Grief Institute to support various seasons of the perinatal journey. Additionally, I’ve trained in IFS, Mindfulness, and CBT to support clients.
Do you accept insurance?
I am an out-of-network provider. This means I do not bill insurance directly.
If you have an HMO insurance plan, you can search online or your insurance should provide you with a list of therapists that are in-network for you to choose from. Typically, you’ll pay just a co-pay for services with those providers. If you’d still like to work with me, I’m happy to see you as a cash-pay client.
Many clients who have a PPO insurance plan may be able to receive reimbursement for a portion of their therapy services after their deductible is met, by submitting a superbill to their insurance. If you’d like to work with me, I can provide a monthly superbill which includes applicable diagnosis and treatment codes which you’d submit directly to your insurance company and they send a check directly to you. It can be helpful to verify your mental health benefits with your insurance plan prior to our meeting so you have a good idea what costs you will be responsible for when working with an out-of-network provider.
Do you offer lower-fee sessions?
Yes! I hold several openings in my caseload for sliding scale/lower fee clients. If my fees aren’t accessible to you at this time, please check in to see if I have a lower-fee opening. If I don’t have anything available, I’m happy to refer you to other providers who offer lower-fee sessions.
I have a baby and I’m not ready/able to leave them with another care provider. Can I bring my baby?
Of course! As a new parent, it’s hard to balance taking care of your own needs while you’re caring for a baby (or older children). Your baby is welcome to join you in session. Whether in-office, virtually, or during Walk and Talk sessions, your baby is welcome. Let’s take care of you, while you care for your baby.
Where do Walk and Talk sessions take place?
Walk and Talk sessions are currently being held in Central San Diego and East County San Diego. Selected locations have accessible parking, stroller-friendly paths, and restrooms. For more details, please contact me.
I’m interested in Walk and Talk sessions. Is there anything I need to consider?
Our first session will be either in-office or virtual so we can complete an intake together. You’ll want to make sure that you and your healthcare provider agree that you are injury-free and able to walk for around 45 minutes. If you’re bringing a baby, you’ll also want to make sure that you and the baby’s healthcare provider have no concerns with their being outside during the session. On the day of your session, if weather does not permit an outdoor meeting, session will be moved to a telehealth or virtual session. During the sessions, you set the walking pace and there will be benches available and opportunity to rest as needed.
