Therapy For Moms

Motherhood is one of the most beautiful and challenging seasons most women will experience.

From trying to get pregnant to navigating sleep deprivation and hormone changes, those early days require more than we might realize. Parenting older kids comes with its own set of challenges as you navigate boundaries, friends, and life with a teen. If it feels like a lot, it’s because it is!

Wherever you are in your parenting journey, support is available for you. I offer women the care and support they need to thrive in the season of motherhood. San Diego, CA sessions are available in-person or via Walk and Talk. Online sessions are available for clients in California.

For New Moms:

For Seasoned Moms:

As a Perinatal Mental Health certified clinician, I will help you navigate the transition into parenthood. For those struggling with fertility, support for stress, anxiety and the mood changes is available. If you’re already pregnant and experiencing mood symptoms or are postpartum and think you may have postpartum depression, anxiety or are dealing with intrusive thoughts, with the right support, you can feel better. I offer a range of therapeutic services from CBT, Mindfulness, and EMDR to get you to a place you feel better.

I offer support for:

  • Infertility

  • Trying to Conceive

  • Difficult Pregnancies

  • Postpartum Depression

  • Postpartum Anxiety

  • Postpartum OCD/Intrusive Thoughts

  • Adjustment to Parenthood

For those parents outside the perinatal season, support is available wherever you’re at. The responsibilities moms juggle are endless. From keeping track of schoolwork, to discerning screen time boundaries, to managing an ongoing sports schedule, its easy to feel lost in the mix. Let me support you as you care for so many other people in your life. Together we’ll get clear on your needs and what it would look like for you to be well cared for while also caring for those that are depending on you.

I work with women who are:

  • Type-A/Perfectionistic Moms

  • Burnt out from Managing Everything

  • Struggling with Communication/Boundaries with extended family

  • Balancing Work and Motherhood

  • Experiencing Maternal/Parental Rage

  • Parents of Athletes

More about Postpartum Therapy

  • 1 in 5 moms and 1 in 10 dads experience a perinatal mood disorder such as postpartum depression or postpartum anxiety, following the birth of a child. That’s 20% of moms!

  • Together, we’ll talk about what you’re experiencing and make a plan to get you feeling better. Sometimes it involves learning some new skills for managing your mood or exploring your identity shift since becoming a parent. We’ll also look at where you might need additional support and what is makes it tricky to get that support. Each mom’s goal and needs are unique and our work together will be unique to your needs.

  • As a Certified Perinatal Mental Health provider, I’ve taken many courses and focused much of my training on the perinatal season and the challenges that come up related to mood during that time. I’m deeply connected with the perinatal community in San Diego and work with or refer to a large network of other providers who also support women in this season of life. I understand that every transition into motherhood is different and also understand that being connected during this time is so important for new moms.

  • Yes! There are so many reasons moms might need or want to bring the baby with them to postpartum therapy (locating good childcare, feeding schedule, anxiety, etc.). You are always welcome to bring your baby with you to the office, on our walk, or have them with you if we meet virtually.

  • Yes - I offer both individual and couples therapy. Most couples who recently had a baby experience shifts in their relationship and can have trouble reconnecting in the postpartum season - I love to help couples learn new ways of connecting and working through the areas of their relationship that are troubling, especially as it relates to their role as partner and parent.

  • Yes! Did you know that many dads also experience a postpartum mood disorder? Whether it’s postpartum depression or anxiety, you witnessed a traumatic birth of your child, or are struggling with the transition into fatherhood, I’d be delighted to work with you!
